Interesting things you did at ACCESS and people you’ve met?
To be in a small audience receiving a presentation by Professor Robert Langer was sort of surreal. Listening to his story and rebuffing of the impossible was nothing short of inspirational. And the Duck Tour – the Duck Tour was fun!
Favorite part of the weekend and why?
Aside from our being chemical engineers, we were ostensibly a very diverse bunch in terms of backgrounds and interests. Everyone was so bright and fun – it was a pleasure to share a weekend with them.
Do you think you benefitted from the program – did it help you in any way? Why or why not?
I definitely benefitted from the program as it further convinced me to apply to grad school. Interacting with graduate students was a positive experience. The idea of being in school until the greater part of one’s 20s is daunting but interacting with the graduate students was reassuring that remaining in school is not a sacrifice of freedom nor retardation of personal development. One learns an adroit balancing act of, more or less, self-regulated academic rigor and personal growth and exploration.
Are you planning on applying to/attending Graduate School now? If so where?
I do plan on applying and attending graduate school but my decision is a work in progress.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
In five years, I see myself on the precipice of a Ph.D. In 10 years, I plan on having a family and doing research on Alzheimer’s or whatever else inspires me.
